Easy Red Lentil Dahl
🧑🍳 Ingredients
🧅 1 large onion, finely chopped
🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced
🍅 1 can (400g) chopped tomatoes
🌶️ 1 tbsp turmeric
🥥 1 can (400ml) coconut milk or 200ml coconut cream
🌱 2 tsp ground cumin
🧂 2 tsp garam masala
🫘 1 cup (200g) red split lentils, rinsed
🧊 1 vegetable bouillon cube
💧 2 cups (500ml) water or vegetable broth
🍋 1 tbsp lemon juice
🧂 Salt and pepper, to taste
🍳 Instructions
Add olive oil to a large pan over medium heat.
Add onions and stir until translucent (about 5 minutes).
Add garlic, turmeric, cumin, and garam masala; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add red split lentils, vegetable bouillon cube, and water/broth. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
Add coconut milk or cream and stir well.
Simmer for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 5 more minutes.
Add lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
Serve with rice or naan bread.
